BEFORE YOU DIVE

Diving medical assessments

Medical assessments before recreational scuba diving or freediving, covering existing conditions, medicines, recent illness and questions about your health in the water.

Health in the context of diving

Diving places particular demands on the body, so an existing condition or medicine may need review before taking part.

Contact us before your course or trip. Tell us the type of diving you plan and which medical form your operator or training organisation requires.

Understanding the medical questionnaire

The Diver Medical questionnaire identifies when a medical evaluation is required. Complete it carefully and bring every page.

The clinician assesses your health in relation to diving. Suitability is a medical decision; further records or assessment may be needed before a conclusion.

What to bring and mention

Give the date of your planned course or trip when booking.

  • The complete form from your operator or training organisation.
  • Current medicines and relevant medical reports.
  • Previous diving medical documents, if available.
  • Recent illness, surgery or changes in health.
  • Previous diving injuries or difficulties.

Allow time before the activity

Book early to allow time for assessment and any additional records. Experienced divers may need a review after a change in health or time away from diving.

For professional or occupational diving, ask whether we can provide the specific assessment required.
